Old bawn 4/11/09

#1 Post by bigsod »

People:Me

Duration:3 till 7:30

Tide:Rising

Weather:westerly wind showers at fist clering later

Bait:Rag, mack and razor

Rigs:2 and 3 hook flappers and 1 and 2 hook clipped down

Results:Flounders, coalies, poor cod

Report:Ment to go further south but got word the beach was unfishable so i decided to try Old bawn instaed.Heavy rain greated me as i arrived but soon the sun came out and with the shelter of the dunes it was quite comfortable fishing.First fish was a coalie and a few more followed and then the flatties came on the feed ranging in size from 26cm to 30cm, best bait was rag tipped with mac.As the tide pushed in so did the weed but still picked up a few more fish including a poor cod. With no sign of any bass and the wind getting up i decided to call it a day and go home for dinner.

Dont know trout hunter could be the coalies that are in at the moment competing for food with the bass.

well done for braving the elements and getting a few fish sod 8) 8) 8) our beach marks on the antrim coast are coming down with 3 inch whiting at the moment :x :x :x we've had to scale up the hook size to 2/0 in a vain attempt at avoiding these suicidal wee chaps.  but on the plus side there's gotta be bigger fish out there feeding on them
