mayo bass hunt 2-11-09

#1 Post by doggie3131 »

People:me and jason

Duration:to long (achoo!)

Tide:high 5.05 pm

Weather:rain, rain, rain,

Bait:lug,mack,razor

Rigs:one up one down, two hook flappers.

Results:see below

Report:Had the man flu all week,(i blame al and jordan!!)bloody marathon sessions!! :D had to cancell sundays session, but decided i was going out monday even if it killed me,met eireann predicted light rain so me and jason hit a beach known for the odd bass,we had got some cracking lug at a beach that matt told us about(thanks matt) real snakes so the confidence was high as we set up,no 1/0 hooks and snakes of lug/razor cocktails were tossed out into the third breaker(there was a great surf) and waited for our first bass :D :D and this is where it all started to go all wrong  met eireann!!why do i listen to them?sunday forecast, torrintial rain and winds, nothing!nada!clear skys and no wind.Mondays forecast light winds and light rain, weather torrential rain and winds!!ba****ds!!!!!! 5 hours on the beach and all we got was a tiny turbot that was not even hooked!had tried to swallow the whole bait and could not cough it up as i reeled it in. :D we moved to another spot and finally connected with a few fish with rockling, doggies, huss, pollock and the dreaded pin whiting caught, gave up around 8pm and went home wet, cold and bassless!! and now im dying again

Bad luck on the bass, there is always next time

Thats a cracking rockling though (unless its a very small doggie next to it )

I dont use met eireann at all, have never found them to be anywhere near accurate.

I use accuweather which seems to be spot on, at worst they may be an hour or 2 out with there forecast....but I can live with that

sounds like you have got a serious dose of the "Fish Flu" Noel, very contagious I've heard :P  guess for a decent bass session you'll have to wait until around the 15th anyway, plenty of time to get well again, best wishes and don't tempt faith too much
