waterfoot pier 1/11/09

Duration: 28 hr trip
Tide:in out in out
Weather: rain
Bait: rag mac squid

Results: john doggies small codling me the same
Report: fishing was bad then about 5pm 3 lads from ballymena came down and started to fish other side of pier wall there were only there and stieve came round with a fish hanging of his rod and he asked me what it was i said i think its a john dory . and they were catching small codling up to a lb hope i can up load photos ok this is not a very good report but it is my first one

Welcome to the site. cracking first post. Waterfoot pier can and does through up some amazing fish. I have heard cracking stories of people not being able to stop fish and burn thumbs on line trying to slow the fish..

Good report mate that's the first john dory I have ever known to be caught of the Antrim coast well done

did it go back or did you keep it for the pan ? that pier has threw up odd fish the last few years including cuckoo+ thornback rays

if it cant get its jaws round a 1/0 its not worth catching [ mullet excluded ]

nice one guys. you deserved the dory for putting in 28 hrs
. put's our 12hr sessions to shame
and well done on the dory. it's the first one i've heard of coming from the shore up there
. but like some of the lads already said, that mark can throw up some real odd ones at times
