which Prawn trap to buy?

#1 Post by spindlefist »

Howdy,
I've seen a few lads on here have bought prawn traps /crayfish traps on eBay, can anyone recommend a particular one? Just for personal consumption, to have out when I'm scratchin round piers and such, just as much to see what is lurking down there as to get a bellyful of prawns....

cheers

I got mine with a voucher I had from river cottage

http://www.rivercottage.net/ShopProduct ... wnNet.aspx

Does the job, ripped down one seam but it was easily repaired.

The ones on ebay, look to be the exact same, for a third of the price. I rinse them when I get home and I tie up and holes with a bit of fishing line. Id keep it cheap and cheerful because if one got snagged and disapeared you'd be sick if you shelled out for it.

when my brothers and i where building a house in dalkey a couple of years ago we said we would get some prawn traps. we got the ones on ebay.
every day before we started we would walk down to the lady's well beside loretto college. we would throw it out for the day and then return that evening.
we got lobsters and lots of huge prawns every day it was fairly strong with only a couple of rips from rocks etc. eventually we lost it to a F7 easterly! well worth getting though
