North Connemara Nov 1st

#1 Post by nige »

People:vinnycorrigan and myself

Duration:4-9

Tide:dropping very slowly

Weather: brewing up a storm then stormy then a storm

Bait:mack sandeel squid hering

Rigs:various

Results:dogs, coalies, whiting, poor cod.

Report: Had arranged to go fishing with vinny and steve. Got up checked forecast and phoned steve for his opinion. He said am staying in bed so I called vinny and said it was off. 30mins later i called him back and said get ready I changed my mind. Arrived at mark at about 330 and it didnt look too bad until we started to cast. I had a disaster of a start with shock coming off and then my main line breaking (note to self dont leave line on reel as long in future) anyway after putting new line on reel I was ready to go fishing. At this stage vinny had a few fish and I had one small whiting. Vinny was pulling in fish nearly every cast and got a double dog on one cast. I needed to catch up but never happened. With the wind picking up and the forecast saying it was going to get worse we decided to call it a day at 9pm. I finished up with 3 dogs and 4 whiting, Vinny had at least 7 dogs and the same in whiting and 1 coalie and 1 poor cod.
