Bray ,28-10-09

People:me, fishface and big mick

Duration:6-30pm-10pm

Tide:high approx 7-30pm

Weather:mild, dry evening

Bait:rag, mack squid

Rigs:flappers, single hook trace

Results:whiting, dabs, doggies, coalies, codling, flounder, 5 bearded rockling

Report:Got an invitation from Neil to fish Bray Harbour so i joined the traffic chaos on the m50 one more time and got there for 6-30pm. Lots of headlights to be seen and i must have passed at least 10 anglers as i walked down to the end of the pier, some of them actually answered me back when i said hello   I havent seen so many anglers here before and i was lucky to get a spot down the end and kept a spot for Fishface, who arrived a short time later( i had 3 whiting  ).As usual he brightened everyones evening up (Petzl Ultra time  ) and it wasnt long before he was telling corny jokes and doling out much needed advice to a novice angler beside us, giving him rigs and bits, and the guy was delighted when he landed his first ever doggie. He then showed the guy how to handle and unhook the doggie who was back in the water in 30 seconds. It was a valuable lesson for the guy who told us another angler had "advised" him never to touch doggies as "theyd tear your arms to bits". Made us wonder how much bad advice is given out  .I had fish on most casts , with plenty of doubles. All the whiting were 26-9cms, pretty decent, with Fishface landing a whiting over 30cms , which he has been after for a while,,,,,so please dont anyone point out to him that the first 2cms is missing off my measure   He was so delighted , i hadnt the heart to tell him  . He landed whiting, a codling and a doggie.I had a couple of dabs, around 20cms, a couple of dogs, lots of whiting and a coalie. Big Mick arrived and blocked the place up with his jeep, moving it 3 times during the evening to let people out. He had some whiting, a nice flounder, and a 5 bearded rockling. Nice easy fishing ,but youd need it after that traffic on the m50  . Walking back to the car at the end of the session I met the Codfather, who true to his name had landed a nice codling, and had a nice chat with him. One of the great benefits of this site is the way it can come up in conversation and help break the ice with other anglers, you feel as if you know the guys already.

Fair play reilly good fishing. You deserve one worth keeping soon
Fisherman's prayer:
God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.
But when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray.
When nestled in your landing net, As I lay peacefully asleep.
You'll smile at me and judge, That I'm "good enough to keep"!
