Report:Got bait off Byrne's and headed off in hope of catching some bass due to some very good reports back from the day before but there was no guranntee that they would take the bait today. When we arrived we started fishing to the right of the stream but due to nothing biting at us we decided to load up, run into to the village for a bag of chips and rebait and setup at the left side of the river all around the 1 o clock or half one marker. There we met a sound lad from the tallaght region who knew his stuff but was only getting small flatfish. Later on we met 2 sound fellas from Portlaoise who in the end only got 2 small fish, not nice for 2 men who travelled a fair auld distance to get here. Anyhow back to the fishing end of things, we got a bad result with scarcely hauling in a flounder or schooley bass none worth keeping but we thought things would change after a while.
And they did so to some degree. Me father got a thumper of a bite and when reeling lost it. Then only a few seconds later I reeled in and what was on it only a dogfish, I ain't a big fan of the doggie. 'Twas me first experience reeling one in and thankfully not to unhook one as me wise auld man got the hook out. Soon after I once again caught one but then our bait was finished and we went home to see what dinner me mother had prepared!
but went home with no fish 
I think I should say my prayer a bit more often 
had the mother anything nice for dinner
