fishing in co galway 11-10-09

#1 Post by doggie3131 »

People:1st session,me and goldwing, 2nd session,saltydog,nige,alex,tomi,myself and goldwing.

Duration:10am-12pm

Tide:up and down and up again

Weather:shirt sleeve weather

Bait:all sorts

Rigs:flappers,"the rig of doom", pennels,

Results:thornies huss doggies whiting mackerel coalies and flounder.

Report:myself and john(goldwing)were due a good session, so we decided to fish a new mark that looked very promising in galway, set up with one rod each as the channel we were fishing was restricted, john with a pennel rig and me with a two hook flapper to cover the bases, fifteen minutes later johns rod gives a delicate nod, then a stronger one and he was into the first fish of the day,a nice thornie! 8) about four pounds(i really need to buy a scales)twenty minutes later my rod went mental and a lovely huss made it to the shore :D :D about 5-6lb gave a great scrap on the way in,we then swapped rigs, and soon after i was into a nice thornie about the same weight as johns :D :D then it was johns turn to land a nice huss of about 6-7lb :D :D so with a thornie and a huss each and us fishing in t shirts it was turning into the perfect day 8) 8) Things quietened down after that,an hour later i got another huss and that was it for this mark as the water levels were dropping rapidly,so we decided to head back to another mark where we were going to meet up with saltydog, nige, and stevecrow, saltydog and nige made it but stevecrow did'nt,he was feeling rather unwell with some mistierious illness he had devoloped after "the night before"  it was still bright and the tourists were out in force,
strolling along the waters edge walking into our fishing lines  great fun! nige was first in with a flounder which had him surrounded with tourists, asking stupid questions,"did you just catch that mister" and my favourite,"is it hurt"considering it still had the hook in its mouth id have thought that was bloody odvious!!nige got the second flounder also and at this stage conor was getting jelous  then i got one, and this nice cutie was over asking what it was, and when i said i was putting it back she asked could she do it :D so one quick photo later and it went back.then conor finally got one,the smallest flounder of the night  :shock:so thats the way the night went, fish caught up and down the beach with nige clearly in the lead after he landed a treble, conor then got serious and started blasting baits out to the horizion and duly hooked a DOGGIE :D :D has to be one caught if im there!!john was disgusted!! so myself and john finally packed it in at twelve, our backs were broken and we left the boys at it,the final count of the day were
john one thornie, one huss and one flounder(THE BIGGEST OF THE NIGHT)me one thornie, two huss and two flounder.nige six flounder, salty one floundereen, two doggies two pin whiting,(think he thought it was a mini bashing session) alex one flounder, and tomi, one mackerel, two doggies two coalies and a pin whiting.great day and we will do it again! :D
