have the salt fx 13ft,this is the fixed spool version,i love it,great rod with great casting, and handles everything thrown at it,now im no big distance caster but can get 100yds plus no problem, have had large huss ,good size thornies, double figure pollock, all on this rod with no problems. This rod has been used over rocky ground and sand equally.

I have the salt 15ft and its a good rod, no complaints, good value as well, and that seems to be across the board on the salts

Shakespere rods have greatly improved and most of it is down to Mike Thrussells imput. The mti range which mike designed and tested is made by shakespere and he also was heavily involved with the salt range.

got the rod and used it yesterday, and i'm very happy with it. it is great to cast with and the bite detection is good, i paired it up with a abu 6501 and it was dream to use, i always fish with the reel up and have never even tryed casting with the reel down, but was talking recently to beachcaster from the site and i took his advice. so yesterday i put the reel down and began casting, started off easy to start with for it felt awkward having to control the spool with my left thumb, at the end up i was hitting it as hard as i could, and i could not belive the distance's i was getting

I started using the reel down again after a break from it. I find its a lot more controllable but more awkward bringing the line in

i know what you mean, i found it awkward as well. but then used the reducer when ever i reeled in and that solved that problem...

A reducer is used when using the reel low on the rod. they are usually about a foot and fitted to the end of the rod after casting your weight/rig to make it easier bringing it back in again

Where can you get these? Are they for specific rods or reels?

Great rod for the money imo. I was going to buy one of these, but decided to upscale due to some great salesman jargon!
