Where have the fish gone ?

#1 Post by flynnboy »

Hi guys

Being new to the salt this year I have a question. Until about 2 weeks ago I was used to going out and regularly getting at least 3 Pollack each trip. Lately I have been drawing complete blanks. Have they gone somewhere for the winter or am I just having a 'dry' patch :?

Cheers

ya,the pollock move out to deeper water during the winter as the water gets colder,id say its a bit early yet for them to have moved, but it could have happened in your area, there still around down here in mayo, but the water is still warm down here, but as the pollock and mackerel move out the coalies and cod move in, so its just different fish that you will be catching.i hope!! :D

:D There y'go, they havent deserted us yet :D Nice little christening for that new rod, well wear. :D On the sea temperature thing, it falls gradually over the next few months, and I've even caught the odd pollock in February, so keep trying. Settled seas are best. 8)
