the cursed adventures of mr lid on bray head

#1 Post by eric »

People: myself and the dfella

Duration: the night time

Tide: in hindsight too high

Weather: horrible north westerly

Bait: rag and lug

Rigs: simple yokes,

Results: 1 pollock about 2lb, 2 codling around a lb each

Report: very last minute session, after turning down a session from masterkeane for this evening a call from dfella eventually persuaded me to head out, free bait! it would be rude to refuse. dfella was all bass in the head when he picked me up, but after a 'kew'uik ( the letter 'kew' does not work anymore on the laptop after the tea incident :D ) chat i got him to go for cod. a real fish, bass arnt in vogue anymore, anyone can catch those sea rats. so we arrived at the mark with the tide flooding in . first cast, bang fish on 38cm cod, :D mission accomplished. decided to let it die aux natural to see if john1 was right, (he's bang on the money  ) gills flarred out  dfella landed his first dublin dog n his first cast. anywho, second cast, bang fish on, a sizeable pollock of around 2 and half lb, decided to let him go, dinner had already been obtained. missed a good fish on the next cast, lead seized up in the rough ground, could feel him nodding away, had to pull for a break eventuall lead to the trace snapping just above the snood :( soon after i got a stonking bite only to reel in a velvet swimmer crab, oh yeah, big shtyle. i like to think a cod had go at the crab, but im a dreamer. dfella soon had his cod, a positive bite eventually produced a nice cod around the same size of mine, he was a happy camper. final cast i got another bite only to get stuck again :( if your wondering who the fukc mr lid is, he is the lid of my green sensas bucket, he flew away on gust of wind. nice night,

Sorry about Mr lid bud. It was a very traumatic scene seeing Eric realise he had gone over. The emergency services were quick on the scene and despite their best efforts there was no sign of Mr lid. If your out fishing over the weekend and come across a round green lid please contact your nearest Garda station.
