Colliemore 30th Sep

#1 Post by finding nemo »

People: Me, Matt and Power

Time: 6-10

HT: 10ish

Weather: Odd shower but very calm

Bait: Rag and Mack

Rigs: 3 Hook flappers

Results: Dogs, Whiting, Weaver?? Octopus and a Crab

My new Shimano Ultegra 14000 had arrived and was dying to get out and give it a blast so two of lads joined us for a crack at colliemore. On leaving the bait shop in Dun Laoghaire Matt was lashed with a fine so it was not a good start for us.

It was a lovely evening down in Dalkey and prob the calmest I’ve seen the water down there. First cast was a double with a dog and not too sure but looking at a recent post may have been a weaver. Things were looking up until we were hit with a few small showers and then disaster struck matt (again). While he was snagged the top of his rod came loose and slid down into the sea out of sight. We didn’t know what to do to avoid losing the tip so after a few pulls and a snap later it was adios to Matts Ron Thompson tip. If anyone fishes it out some day give us a shout. So with Matt out of the game Power and myself pulled in a few dogs and whiting. Seen a few pulls on the rod so started to reel in which felt like another dog but no it was and eight tentacled octoslime, not too big maybe the size of a fist and he was followed by a crab and dog to finish off the session.
Delighted with the new reel and hope to get out again tonight maybe a new spot but Colliemore doesn’t get too dark with all the street lamps etc.

Sorry no pics only got one of the octopus on Matts phone which he has prob lost by now, will lash it up when I get a chance.

Cheers,
Rob
