With the weather overcast & wind light, it was perfect for a spot of fishing so made our way to a Beach mark but when we arrived the place was full of surfers & anglers
When we got there the place was empty so wasted no time baited up & cast out, John was first in with a Codling after 5 minutes followed by Dogfish, whilst I was waiting for a bite for about an hour then the rod tip wet crazy picked it up & got a nice Dogfish first of the year for me so was very happy to get a new species
Arrived to a very rough sea with big swells running but fishable, on with the bait & dropped it down it hadn’t hit the bottom when a big Ballan made off with it into the kelp gave it a pull, line snapped good fish lost, on with new rig & bait got five wrasse about the 2lb mark ,then connected with a good fish a lovely Ballan just under 3.5 lb, when I went to unhook him I spotted two lines & two hooks in its mouth

With big Wrasse on my mind for a few days, I headed back to the same mark every shot a Ballan they were feeding hard attacking the bait as soon as it hit the bottom, got six from 1.5 to 2.5lb & two good ones 4 & 3 lb which fought very hard. I reckon there’s a massive one down there somewhere amongst the kelp
