League rule

#1 Post by swillyrock »

In my local leauge they have a rule that if a member gets a place on the irish team
and the date they fish for Ireland is the same as one of our league trips ; then they are
alloud to fish that league trip at a later date say two or three months later ; but by July
there are more fish in the lough then when all the other members had to fish the league
trip in May; do you think this is fair on all members  should we not have to all fish
at the same time to have fair play  :?:

Swillyrock, Culdaff SAC run a good system where by instead of totaling up the points scored on the boat during the season, you get points based on where you finished on the boat each trip, ie if you win the boat you get 10pts, second gets 9pts, third gets 8pts etc. This is done because if you just add up the points scored for each trip you could forget about the first two or three trips of the year, fish July and August and win the league. They also do somthing whereby you only count 75% of your league trips, but Im not too sure about that, maybe Marc could throw some light on it?

Have you's many league trips left this year?

Nearly right Paddy.

1st place gets 1 point , 2nd gets 2 points and so on. 75% of trips count. We brought in this sytem as some light tides in the summer can produce scores over 600 points. miss this trip and your out for the year. In the case of a joint result we count the fish points for the relevent trips.

its the only fair way to have points for each outing, not a total of fish points over the year.
if a member is on international duty the whole competition should be postponed to a later date.
having eg 7 or 8 from 10 comps counting means it is fair for everyone as people have other things in life bar fishing, anything can crop up...
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
