Wexford Bass 26/09/09

#1 Post by Security man »

People:Me fein

Duration: 9.30pm - 11pm

Tide: Never moved (meant to be full)

Weather: Dry. broken cloud

Bait: Peeler & mack

Rigs: 4/0 pulley pennels

Results: 1 Bass

Report:
Decided to coincide a quick session with high tide at a mark that has been producing lately.
Not much to report, got nailed on 1st rod after about 10mins but failed to hook up :( .
20 mins later decided to re-bait both rods, this time tipping off the peeler with a slither of mack. After rebaiting rod no.2, went to cast out - when I discovered myself getting tangled up in line No.1 on the way, which had become slack. Reeled in the slack, to discover Billy literally 'sitting on the sand' at the edge of the water - never even put up a fight!
Were guys to the left and to the right of me, all got nice Bass within the same 30min window. 8)

Went down the following night, but it was Dog, Dog, dog....! :?

None at all, water was crystal and not a stir on it - like glass (not exactly ideal bass conditions! :? ).
Hasn't been a breeze down here in nearly two weeks - no rain in nearly 2 weeks either, come to think of it! 8)

I reckon there were a few macks there before dark, hence the Bass on patrol. Got the odd few macks there over the last 4 weeks, but very hit & miss. I got 20 macks off kilmore shore in July this year, I reckon they came earlier and we missed them.... :(
