looking for my first bass

i need a bit of help in the Bass department lads..........i'm hoping to head out and target bass this weekend :D :D , was thinking of Laytown area as i dont think there is much hope of me getting any up this neck of the woods :cry: :cry: .if anyone can give me any advice i would be very grateful, not even sure if i will be heading in the right direction.............
any other areas that i should try that would be within a few hours drive??????? what tides/times and what baits would be best?

some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?

09 so far--codling coalies plaice flounder turbot 3&5 bearded rockling doggies whitting shanny and a [color=#FF0000]5lb [/color]huss thornback ray squid starfish mackeral pollack corkwing wrasse ballan wrasse [color=#FF0000]5lb 6oz [/color]conger

would love to help you but i never had any luck with bass in NI, but i hear they get caught on downhill beach sometimes

Welcome to my world Minty. I have chased the little beggars for 5 years now and never got a sniff of one. They have to be the most aggrivating fish.

I hear tell of benone and downhill throwong them up. But it is always the same old story.... "you should have been here last nite"....

thanks for the PM's and replies lads got some helpfull hints and tips, checked out the tides up north for saturday and they seem pretty late for a low tide and have to work part of this weekend so i'm heading for cushendun beach and will maybe try further north next weekend in my hunt for a bass..............
