Long fixed spool beachcaster

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

roughly what distance was he getting, with the longrod and overhead thump?

I feel i'm being led down a blind alley on this one lads, i'll explain it again my young lad was fishing on the u21s team in the home internationals in wales earlier this year he was using the new ian golds super match xtra, when he returned home i asked him how did he get on with the rod and he said it was great he was out casting the rest of the lads on the other teams ( who made comments on the distance he was achieving with the rod) i think you have a hang up about pendulum casting its not the only cast that big distance's can be achieved, with the cast he uses he can put three baits out very far, remember its over water and not measured and a beach is a hell of a lot different to the perfect conditions of the casting court.

sorry but i think you may picked me up wrong, as i said i used a long rod set up for match fishing and multi for pleasure fishing, it easier in a match with a long rod and in some matches people are pegged too close and a big swing can cause problems so maybe i should have said what rod and distance he got, whats the bite dection like, i didnt mean to sound like i was putting your son down, sorry

No problem i picked it up wrong!! I have never taught Stephen how to pendulum cast and he's not that interested, he uses the off the ground cast, since he started using the ian golds super match xtra he has increased his distance immensely, this rod was designed for this type of casting it has a quick pick up of the lead and the rod does not fold with early compression, it feels very comfortable whether it's lobbing three hooks 10yds or blasting three baits to the horizon. The tip has good bite detection and locks nicely in a good run, it wouldn't be a scratching rod it's more of a distance rod.
