elusive mayo bass

#1 Post by doggie3131 »

People:me, jason, yorkshire lad,goldwing.

Duration:8pm-12pm

Tide:high 10.20

Weather:nice and warm,water lovely!

Bait:lug, sandeel,mack,

Rigs:all sorts

Results:NO BASS!!!,flounder, doggie

Report:meet yorkshire man for the first time at this "famous bass beach" in co sligo,we introduced ourselves and got fishing in double quick time, there were bass to be caught :D i was quickly into a flounder, only small but things were looking good, mike was into a better flounder about fifteen minutes later :D but things went quiet,it did not help that this beach is a gently sloping beach with a long walk out thru the water to get a cast, and me with no wellies  good job the water was warm :D :D was chatting with mike about two hours into the session when his rod went mental :D FISH ON,he had a nice bend in the rod but the fight was funny, ended up being a doggie :D the first one mike ever had at this beach :D :D well I WAS there!doggies tend to follow me around the coast   that was it for the night, not another bite, even the crabs left us alone.nice beach and it was a pleasure to meet mike,we will be back!

haha bloody flounders Noel! imagine that. a fishing trip with you Noel and co is well worth the mileage! you will get yer bass, just like the flounder! solunar chart is anti fish at the mo if you are to go by cortaz "predictable fishing" report, and it works for me! if you don't get yer bass come to dublin and you might even get a rare whiting too :D
it won't be too long Noel til the line wizzes off with a bass or two!
keep up the reports.
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse, smooth hound.
