Strangford Lough Mullet (Report & Pics) - 24/09/09

#1 Post by KERRY1 »

People: K2 who was later joined by KERRY1 :D

Location: Somewhere in Strangford Lough

Rig: Float set-up

Bait: Bread

Weather: Warm and dry

Results: 3 mullet for who else other than K2! :D

K2 went back to Strangford Lough for another session of mullet fishing.
I joined him later on after I finished work but didn't fish.
As soon as I arrived I could see huge numbers of fish, and they where feeding like mad on the bread that was being thrown in for them. ( a photograph below shows the feeding frenzy that occurred).
By the time I arrived K2 had already caught 2 fish :D but I was there no longer than approx. 2 minutes at the most and he caught his third!
This fish gave him a really good fight, going on huge runs up and down in the water before finally getting tired allowing K2 to land it.
I took a photograph of it and then K2 put it back in to be caught again another day by someone (hopefully me!) .
We stayed for a while longer with K2 getting more bites and at one point he had another fish on but it got off  That didn't really bother him though as he had caught 3 fish already (you can't be greedy  ).
We then moved to another spot around the corner from this mark where the fish K2 had been targeting had moved down to.
They moved past quite quick at this location however not showing much interest in the bread that K2 was throwing in to them and so we decided to call it a day.
Photographs of K2's third fish can be seen below as well as a few more showing you the moment it was hooked and the fish hitting the top of the water after the bread.

Thanks mate, I'll pass your comments onto K2.
I am meeting him later on again and I am going to fish myself this time so wish me good luck, I'll need it
I have no time to fish anyway. I am far too busy netting and taking photographs of K2's fish!
He doesn't know it yet but I am sending him an invoice at the end of the year for my photography fees
My charges are worked out on the basis off - for every pound in weight of his fish I have photographed or netted that's the equivilent in pounds sterling he owes me  He must owe me hundreds by now

If he wont give you time to fish, you certainly make a good photographer and nets-woman. Well done to the both of you.
