Fentster wrote:K1, your reports are good and always appreciated. I take my hat (much admired) off to you both for the amount of fish you catch, I am jealous! The spot the difference was only a laugh and nothing to do with the report. You see, with all the blanks I have and very tiny fish when I do score, I NEED a bit of a laugh!Sorry if it offended anyone 8)
You're a dab hand at the shopping too..........your weeky bill must be a joy with all that cheap grub!

Thanks Fenster, what I said wasn't directed at you.
I know what you are saying about things only meant as abit of a laugh but some people take it too far. I don't want to go in to what I mean now but I have my reasons for being so annoyed.
I maybe shouldn't have reacted the way I did, that's what they want me to do but I can't help it, I feel like I have to stick up for myself and get my point accross.
Thanks again for your message, we must meet soon, K2 has met you but I haven't. It would be nice to put a face to the name!
Take care. :)

Having been criticised for giving away marks in my photographs in the past on this forum I decided to make the effort and tried to hide/fade out the background to avoid any further hassle

I wouldnt worry about giving away the marks K1 a certain someone will probably do a write up for irish angler on them soon enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for what reason ??????????

I have fished for mullet all over strangford lough and on a regular basis and never bumped into another mullet angler(that i didnt already know) so dont know why locals would be upset.Strangford marks for mullet or sea trout for that matter are the worst kept secrets in the country.
But then again no one read the article so therefore no one is unhappy.

I'll start off by saying; congrats on a few nice fish k2. I enjoy reading any report, the time and effort that goes into a report is second to none by a lot of folk on the forum. I enjoy even more so reading about local marks and local mullet caught because I know how god dam hard they are to get. From reading a few of the previous posts it looks to me that things are getting a bit off topic, it is a fishing forum all the same, lets deal with the fish :P

I know there is a lot of talk about making fishing on the lough a "tourist attraction" so that local communities and businesses can benefit. Obviously if an angler does not wish to give info about a mark away they are quite entitled to, however how can the industry/tourist attraction that folk are trying to push, improve if we do not supply enough info for the visiting angler to at least come into contact with a fish or 2 so I totally understand the need for articles etc. There is always a flip side to any debate so of course there is going to be a few head shakes and what have you.

I agree with what has been said most marks on the lough are known by most folk, locals and non-locals alike. Any Tom, Dick or Harry that puts a bit of effort in will walk past a few of the mullet marks and see them feeding, jumping and milling about, however you may have to go off the beaten track, that's where the good anglers will shine through, and these are the marks that are worth keeping to yourself.

I am fortunate enough to live right on the lough and have been shown by a few of the best anglers I know how to target these elusive creatures and when, however my mullet count for the summer is not as high as I would have liked, but who is counting, I do it for the enjoyment, and to get the head showered. If guys are willing to put the effort in to catch lots of mullet i.e. lots of hours and lots of walking then they should be congratulated. I wish I had more time to get at these mullet a bit more before they head off, well most of them head off

Thankyou mate, some good points made there. I'm looking forward to seeing you later for a session. Let's hope we catch something, we can't let K2 catch them all ! :D

Thankyou very much, it was a shame that I lost my fish but hey, I'll just have to keep trying and not give up which is what I felt like doing at the time! :D
