North Dublin Beach - 23/09/09

#1 Post by Aurelien »

People:Me, the brother and the dog

Duration:12 am to 4 am

Tide:in and out

Weather:nice

Bait:rags and squid

Rigs:two hooks flappers

Results:flounders

Report:Go back digging some rags and must have found 3 dozen of awesome kings ... Headed back to the same beach ... This time decided to hunt for flatties straight away ... After 30 min hooked a small flounder, things were looking good ... Unfortunately have to wait 2hours before getting the second one which was little bigger ... After a while without bites, a fresh westerly breeze started to blow ... Time to go to bed ...

Thanks for the flatties Zeke, always good to get a few fish ... Can't wait for the easterly winds forecast for Tuesday, this mean Bass :D ...

For the rags Eeler, go 1h before low tide and go directly on the mussel beds ... 1h before will let you the time to dig before the tide start to come in again (this mean that the best part of the mussel beds are uncover during 2h approximately) ... I found mine at 50 - 60 cm deep ...

By the way, is somebody knows if the big orange worms (those that seems living in a tube) that you find also when digging rags makes good baits ?

yeah , those tube worms are useless creeps.....
rag like the loose shale that mussel beds allow.. although most mussel beds are in stink mud, the large quantities of shells allow the rag to move freely...
