Killiney Beach

#1 Post by keanser »

People: On me lonesome

Tide: High but on way out, Very Calm

Time: 13.30 - 17.00

Weather: Very warm and sunny

Bait: Rag...too lasy to buy others

Rigs: 2 hook slappers

Results: 4 Bass and 3 Flounder

Ok folks I am a long time stalker, first time poster. Had myself a day off today and managed to get all my loose ends done early this morning so had the afternoon to myself. Grew up close to Killiney beach so thought I would give it a lash havent fished there in years. Arrived there at about 1.30 and tide was just full in and quite calm so wasnt expecting much to be honest but weather was great so didnt mind sitting there pretending to be an angler for the day. First 2-3 casts with both rods were put out about 60 yards and as expected not much happened. Decided to change my approach and started to throw them out a bit further ( thankfully I had eaten Weetabix) so managed to cast out about 100 -120 yards or so, probably a personal best 8) . After a few mins the rods started to get some action, missed a few good bites but managed to get myself a flounder and a bass on one of the rods. My blank was safe. Over the next couple of hours I just staggered my casts some closer and some out a bit and managed to land 4 Small Bass and 3 flounder in total one of which was about 30 cm so was happy enough considering I wasnt expecting a whole lot. Not bad for a beginner with a few hours to kill I guess. All fish were hooked nicely and released with only their pride hurt

Only getting back into the fishing and its great to get a warm sunny day in September to oblige ha
Sorry no pics..maybe next time
