mullaghmore mullet 20.9.09

#1 Post by davyp »

People:moi

Duration: 6.30 - 8.00

Tide: hw @ 7.30ish?

Weather: cloudy /windy

Bait:mack

Rigs: bubble float

Results:lost 1 mullet

Report:

went back with the fly rod - but it was seriously windy - coming straight into the breakwater. so spinnin rod it was, as soon as i arrived chopped some crappy refrozen mack (knew it would be usefull for something  ) and chucked it in, baited up the spinnin rod with the bubble float and a small bit of mack, there were 2 mullet on the groundbait straight away and had one hooked in a matter of minutes - walked it round to the breakwater to land but the line snapped at the hook as i ws lifting him

wind picked up even more , and was really dispursing the groundbait as soon as i put it in, only had a few mack and they soon dissapeared , no more mullet appeared, got harrassed by some mini pollack and coalies, and went looking a more sheltered spot, which i didnt reallyy find, gave it up as a bad job an hit the road

It's great to see someone else is getting as addicted to the mullet fishing as K2 and I are  We're all mad or if we aren't we soon will be! They do that to ya
In relation to your idea for a groundbait bag, try and get yourself an onion bag, that should do the trick. You need something that doesn't have too big of holes in it, you want the groundbait to release out slowly but steadily.
Good luck
