Port Salon beach lough swilly

#1 Post by STUART LANGRIDGE »

People:18 members of c.b.a.r.s.a.c.

Duration:5 hours

Tide: two hours in three hours out

Weather: sunny warm but quite windy

Bait: sandeels , mackeral, rag & lug

Rigs: flatty rigs, three hook flappers and clipped down distance rigs

Results: main species was thornback ray, l.s.dogfish & flounder
heaviest fish pool went to gaz bell with a ray of 3.180kg gaz also took the leg with a good bag of rays , flounder and dogfish, second was mark rainey with rays and dogfish, third was bobby laughlin with rays and some cracking dogfish
this was a worthwhile venue only bad thing was the amount of sand whipped up by the wind not as many dogfish as expected but loads of rays , all fish when caught were weighed recorded then released back with as little stress as possible
i think this venue will be included in next years club masters again, however well probably arrange to stay over as its a long drive

stuarty there is a first time for everything!i would say the wee man let you beat him so you wouldn,t get slagged again.must have a word with him tell him to keep the pressure on.

Think I will have to give this venue a go - need to catch a ray soon so you can't give me grief about never having caught one !

How long does it take to get there?

Lee.
Even a bad days fishing is better than working.

Carrickfergus to Portsalon? You'd be looking at the best part of 2 1/2, 3 hours drive.
