antrim coast sat 5th sept

#1 Post by minty »

People:me and the brother (mick)

Duration:6 till 1.30am

Tide:low to high

Weather:good

Bait:rag, mack and sandeels

Rigs:everthing

Results:doggies codling coalies and wee spikey thing

Report:headed for a mark that usualy throws up plenty of doggies, the brother was looking to get his first so could'nt think of anywhere better......... how wrong i was    . low water here is thick with kelp and every rig we used we lost, i've fished here a few times and never had it this bad, not even a bite, so packed up and headed for glenarm beach, met contender from the site as he packing up ( nice to meet you at last mate ), he'd told us he'd got a few fish so hopes were high again :D :D . within 10mins i'd landed a nice doggie :D :D :D. looked round to see the brother spinning from the beach, at first i thought he was mad but then notice fish jumping yards out in front of us. that was when he landed " the wee spikey thing ", quick photo and he was away again, few codling and coalies after that, did'nt look like he was going to get his doggie as it was last cast time, once again how wrong i was   , his last cast resulted in a doggie, so a wee photo and back in again he went :D :D . the beach made up for the disaster earlier and we both went home happy :D :D

can anyone tell me what "the wee spikey thing" is?????

long spined sea scorpion minty    . my mate went down to the dog mark last night and blanked too     not quite sure what has happened to that mark :? :? :? but the crab pots are 50 yards closer in than usual, which makes it impossible to reach the underwater ledge where all the dogs and huss are usually at :x :x :x :x i noticed this the last time i fished that mark and the extra 50 yards really makes the difference
