how the hell do you catch bass with spinners poppers ect

i was fishing yesterday from 9.30 to 8.30 nice day for it
but only caught one wrasse about 3lb i was using rag and spinning
i fished in rathmailon off to the left ,between saleens and brownstown head ,off brownstown head ,the mouth of the earstery of salt mills and booley bay what am i doing wrong please help.
if any one is going off around waterford wexford and would not mind bringing me along would i would be greatful

I'm not too sure but id say they are scarce in that area clunedog you'd be better of sticking to a shallower rock mark or an estuary like the Saleens , I had 1 yesterday there on a feed shallow it was just over 4lb my biggest on the lures to date it put up a good scrap. My first few casts I noticed swirls behind and beside the lure ( top water ) after my 5th r 6th cast i changed to the feed shallow ( Sub surface ) the fish nailed it as soon as I started the retrieve Happy Days . We stayed on for another few hours but after that no more fish .
