Cahore Point Wexford

#1 Post by KenM »

Hey lads,

It's been a while since I;ve posted her but then again its been a while since I got out fishin'!

Just looking for any info anyone might have on fishing Cahore? Myself and my mate are ditching the wives and kiddies and have one day and night pass to get some serious fishing and maybe a bit of drinkin done also.

Firstly - should I be looking at the tide times for Dublin or Dunmore East? I was thinking Dunmore East but I'm not sure.

Secondly - does the area (rocks, pier, beaches) fish better on incomming tide or not?

Thirdly - Are there any bait shops nearby to get fresh bat? (dont want to go collecting as time will be really o the essence and want do hit the ground running so to speak)

We are staying in courtown about 15km away. Are there any other good marks close by?

I know thats a lot of question for one post but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kenny :)

Hi
It's a while since I've been fishin myself, can't tell you which tide tables to use but I have fished Cahore for bass a few times but caught only flatties and silver eels.
I have had bass at a beach (whose name I can't remember, but it's closer to Kilmuckridge and right beside a bunch of huge wind turbines.
There is a post office come shop in the village where you turn off to Cahore where the owner can tell you whats being caught and also sells the odd bit of bait. Think his name is Tom.
Anyway - good luck
Andy

Tides are between Roslare anad Dublin if you go to Easytide or one of the other sites you can get courtown tides.

The beaches fish well at all stages when dark the pier fishes better up to high.

North beach in courtown is well worth a shot as are any of the other beaches such as ballymoney, kilgorman etc.
