FISHING IN CO. SLIGO WED 2 & SUN 6 SEPTEMBER 09

#1 Post by FisherKing »

People:Myself

Duration:Day 1: 2Hrs day 2: 2Hrs

Tide:High water

Weather:Wet & windy

Bait:Spinner & Lug

Rigs:Single hook

Results:Day 1: 5 Pollack 1 Mackerel. Day 2: 5 Corkwing Wrasse

Report:

Day 1 Wed 2nd

With the weather been so bad for the past few weeks & very rough sea I was unable to get much fishing in apart for a few hours here & there. When it finally became fishable got to do some spinning & was kept busy with a steady flow of Pollack. Although on the small side, best being 2lb, they were putting up a great scrap, lost a nice one about 3.5lb.

Day 2 Sun 6th

Was meant to be camping this weekend but had to cancel due to crap weather so dug some lug instead & headed for a spot of Wrasse fishing. When I arrived was greeted by wet & windy conditions but fishable all the same. Set up, got a few bites and went quiet for a while, then started catching small Corkwing Wrasse. Unfortunately it started getting very rough so had to call it a day.

No they're both Corkwing Wrasse which usually have a black spot found in front of the of the tail, below the lateral line. There is often a dark patch behind the eye. Males have blue/green, wavy or curved lines on the head & lower jaw as you will see from the pics.
