West Waterford 4sept-7sept

#1 Post by nicefish »

People: 3

Duration: 4-7 september

Tide: all

Weather: sunny windy rain on Sunday

Bait: plugs lures rag crab

Rigs: 2 hook flappers

Results: 7 Bass 4 Pollock 1 Mackerel 1 Plaice

Report:

Went to Waterford with two mates Simon+Drahos for a nice relaxing rest and to see if we could get our first Bass. On Friday we went to our first mark only 5 minutes drive, I spoke to 3 lads who were leaving they said to was to rough for spinning they had no joy. We gave it a go I lost my Xlayer on my first cast and Simon was Snagged on the rocks its no wonder the lads left. About 5 min later Simon hooked in to a lovely Bass on a Kilty lure what a surprise that was he was ecstatic and I nearly fell of the rocks in shock  and then he does the same thing a few casts later another nice Bass  of course not one of us had a camera :x we took some pictures on a mobile hope to get them up later. Drahos comes and tells us that he lost a Pollock the lenght of his arm well he is a midget

Sat Me and Drahos fished the beach were we were staying we fished at rocks at 6:30am till 8am Drahos had 1 mackerel and I had 4 Pollock on a Lucky craft flashminnow the smallest about 1+half pound the others were 2 and 3 lbs. That afternoon we went over to Cork and met a friend and fished a secret mark at low water. Straight away Michael hooked on to a nice Bass followed by 2 lovely flounder and then Drahos lands his first ever Bass at 8 and a half pound  then the weed came and went to another mark only to find more weed  we packed up and went home. Later we went back to our lock mark and did some plugging off the rocks at about 8pm at last I got my first ever Bass on the Lucky craft flashminnow I will never forget that moment Ive being trying to nail one for over a year now. A few moments later Simon got a bass on a tormentor now he is an expert :?

Sunday I got up at 6am and went back to were i got my Bass :D I stayed for an hour and I got 2 more bass on the lucky craft I love that lure.

Mon we went to rocks at 6:30 beautiful morning moon over head and the sun starting to rise we stayed an 2 hrs and blanked the lads could not believe it and then I told them that Cortaz had Monday down for a poor day  which is strange been so close to a full moon. we went back to Cork were Drahos had his Bass ,I got a small Plaice and that was it went home, and packed up headed home we had a great few days in Waterford. Like Newbie009 we had the same kind of feeling the 3 of us getting our first Bass and especially Drahos with one at 8 and half LB. I would like to thank all the lads here for all the help iv'e got over the last year, especially the lads in Waterford for the marks, from picking the rod and reel to what line ,knots.bait, tides and everything else thanks. hope to put up some photos later today.
Anto.

Hi Anto

Believe me I know how you felt after catching the first one....it reminds me of a comment from Mick Fitzgerald after winning the Grand National!!!!

Sounds like you had a super time. Well done!!!

I hope the members who post their views, comments and tips actually realise how helpful they are by taking the time out to post. Like you Anto I have read an abundance of invaluable posts here that have pointed me in the right direction numerous times. The members here are a credit to the site.
