anyway no bait at home so i thought id dig some lug down at the harbour only to find the tide had just turned
so while lewis was at the chippy i franticly dug the lug but could only get 17 huge worms before the tide was making it imposible lewis arrived with the dinner and we set off to the pier i had to cut the lug in half and didnt hold out much hope but first chuck didnt even get to hit bottom before the bites this was the first of a hectic few hours had to resort to dipping the leftover hookbait into the juice of the cut worms and this worked right up untill all was left was juice
midway through the codling lewis got a slightly bigger haddock
had no bait left so turned to a set of feathers with tiny hooks and got double shots of coalfish and pollock had to leave about 9 o'clock so we fished for 3 1/2 hours and got at least a fish a cast
easily our best nights fishing in years of fishing this pier
codling were 8-10" haddock slightly bigger coalfish well over 2 pounds and some of the pollock bigger
all fish returned
