Donaghadee Pier, Co Down, 30/08/09

#1 Post by vamper »

People:Me

Duration:2145 - 0030

Tide:dropping (HW @ 2100ish)

Weather:dry, then downpour!

Bait:mack, cooked prawn

Rigs:3 hook flappers

Results:1 pout, 1 shore rockling

Report:

Not a lot to report really, apart from both fish took prawns. Fishing was really slow. I'm putting it down to the state of the tide, and not to my lack of angling skills

Cheers guys. All we need now is for the weather to clear up a bit!

nice one on getting a few vamper :P . that mark is really hard to work out this year :| :| :| you either seem to have a feast or a famine down there at the moment. i checked our diary from this time last year and we were pulling out a regular stream of coalies to 1lb 8oz and pollack to 2lb. not quite sure whats happened down there this year :( :(

One local I chatted to down there last year had the theory that the fishing was so good because the dredgers working out near the islands had driven the fish away from their normal haunts!

I have to say it has been poor here during the day. Dan & Drew did okay though in the evening according to a post I read.

Ive fished the dee for 30 odd years and for the next few months is prime time.
If you fish this venue for a while you will soon learn when to be there. At this time of year and over the winter darkness is best unless you want to target wrasse. Wind and tide do make a difference to species caught but dusk onwards is best and you will catch.
