I went fishing yesterday afternoon and at the end of the session I couldn't get my rod apart I had to drive home with it sticking out of the window.
I thought if I left it overnight it would release itself with the change of temperature... but no it won't. I have tried wd40 and the hair dryer but it's still jammed
not sure the hairdryey would do it, try the othey way and put a load of ice around it to try and get it to contract then get some one on the but end while you twist the tip hopefully out. hope it works for you
You need a second person to assist you on this one. Facing each other you each need to put one hand on each section of the rod. One hand just above the joint and one below it. Both of you need to push and pull with each hand at the same time. You may need to twist it a little also if it doesn't work initially.
Sounds mad, but it does work.
Donal.
Gone Fishin, there's a sign upon the door............
simple just boil the kettle pour over the spiggot collect the boiling water in a container and repeat the process for a couple of minutes this will release the two parts , when they come appart then its time for the wd40 spray the male end of the spiggot in wd and wipe off the excess cardon dust with a clean cloth repeat untill you have a nice smooth action when putting together and releasing...
the reason not to use your girlfriend or wife is be cause while your both pulling and they come a part and she hits the deck and you run over to see is your rod damaged this will get you in to very deep waters with her in doors believe me have the t shirt
Thanks for all of the advice. I got it apart. More wd40 and just waited a while. I asked my wife to help on the promise that if she fell I'd come running to her first if she fell over
It came apart first pull after several tries. I think it was just time to let the wd40 penetrate. ready to go off fishing again

A similar situation happened to me a couple of years back some sand got into rod connections was preventing from detaching the rod,Needless to say looked like a proper plonker trying to disconnect them .had to drive home with 14ft rod in hand as it wouldnt fit in the car.Mind ya was too embarrassed to ask a passing stranger.I feel your pain flynner

make sure you don't use the eyes/guides for a grip or you will cause more damage! i hope yer not into shooting!!! imagine a barrel full of crap and a round lodging!! glad the problem is solved, wd40 rocks! be careful on the next few casts!!!
i always have i little tin of vasline lip care in the tackle box a little smear on the spiggot before you tackle up works a treat (stops your lips from drying up in winter as well)
