Ennerielly area 02-09-2009

#1 Post by shamoo0804 »

People: Me, Corbyeire & Mitch

Duration: 6.45-10.30, Mitch stayed on later

Tide: Full, then ebbing

Weather:Rained all the way there, then mostly dry, very windy last 2 hours.

Bait: Crab, rag, squid, mack, frozen lug

Rigs: Pullys, flappers

Results: Me 1 dog, Mitch 1 bass 2 dabs (maybe more after we left), Brian blank

Report:

Not much to report really, had been planning to go for ray and smoothies near by, but the swell put paid to that idea, so decided on a handy spot to park on the beach and fish from the jeep.

As we arrived another guy pulled up, he's been lurking on the site without posting, nice guy none the less, and it was good to meet you Mitch.

Surf was very strong and looked deadly for the bass, thankfully not much weed.

Fished big baits at various distances, past the bank, on it, this side of it, in close.....got nothing for my trouble.

Fished smaller baits on a flapper from 50 yards in, nothing doing there either.

Had a couple of crack off's which was frustrating, as each time I'd taken great care in my bait presentation  - dodgy spool of line I think as its been happening a bit on just the 1 reel - must change it

Got a dog on my last cast on the flapper around 15 yards out - blank saved for me atleast.

Mitch had got a small bas as the darkness fell, follwing up with a couple of dabs. Dont know if he got anymore after we left, perhaps he'll grace us with an update

Me & Brian decided we'd had enough and packed up around 10.15/10.30ish, leaving Mitch to catch a few more hopefully

Finally managed to pop my Jack White's cherry with a few pints of the back stuff on the way home, have been passing this pub for the last 18 months now saying I'd get a pint in there next time - I've done it

On the plus side, I've plenty of bait left over, so I'll be heading out tomorrow.

I'm not getting quite that bad Dave, but it sure is handy to have all the gear laid out in the back away from the wind/rain

Thanks ginoceltic, the fishing was dreadful, but much better a few nights later

I really dont give a feck what people say about me driving onto the beach to be honest, I'm a very conciencous angler overall, taking all my rubbish home, practising C & R most of the time etc.

Them lads who kick up a fuss over things like that are usually the dead heads who leave there rubbish behind.....doing far more damage than a few tyre tracks :!:
