cushendun beach 30th aug

#1 Post by minty »

People:GADSAC COMP

Duration:6 till 11pm

Tide:2 hours before HW

Weather:dry but turned wet

Bait:rag and mack

Rigs:2 hook clipped and 3 hook flappers

Results:doggie, flounder, coalies and whitting

Report:after driving through the rain the whole way from belfast i was surprised to see the weather at the beach was perfect, little wind good sea and dry. fishing was a bit slow to start with for myself although some of the other lads were getting straight into fish, landed a small flounder and codling just as the light was fading but both were undersize :( :( . as darkness kicked in i lumped out some nice chunks of mack in the hope of a doggie and within 10mins i got what i was after :D :D , the odd small coalies after that and then a nice whitting, (well i think it was but it was coloured like a codling but had no chin barb and had a bit more of a shine to it) no mater if it was a cod or whitting it was the biggest of either i've landed this year so i'm happy with that. ( not that it was a monster by any means ) :D :D . tried for the doggies again and had a few good knocks but no hook-ups. started raining about 45 mins from the end but was still happy enough wiht the 2 counters..............would like to get back up again with some lug as a few of the others lads were having better fish with them
all in all a good night and a decent beach to fish :D :D
some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?

Good man

I agree this is the better of the beaches in that area, its hard graft though during daylight, but as soon as darkness falls it gets better. It can be a bit crabby at times though
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.
