dublin bass tuesday 1 september 2009

#1 Post by rustyhookthomas »

People: me and gar (no match of the day tonight :) :) )

Duration:10pm-12:30am

Tide:full, then dropping

Weather:mild westerly wind/dry

Bait:freshly dug lug

Rigs: 1 and 2 hook flappers

Results:me 1 bass, gar 1 bass and 1 silver eel

Report: got gar away from the footie for a couple of hours with a bribe of
a possible bar of silver!
first lines out at about ten with my rod dancing to a bass of possibly 3lb (no scales :( )
gars corcaigh park landing net skills are unmatchable :D , quick pic and away.
next was gar with a nice schoolie bringing his bag to 20 species this year (10 on the fly-rod)
no fly rod tonight for gar but he's dying to give it a go soon!
a while later gar got an eel which bit him a couple of times on the hand
bleeding and laughing at the same time, he couldn't believe the cheek of this eel!
never ever before had this happened!
first cast for me

Nice to see you racking up the tally of dublin bass Thomas, that was a cracker in your last report

I've had a few myself around dublin, cant understand lads who feel the need to head down south in the quest for a bass when there's plenty around dublin.
