How do I use a bait shield ?

#1 Post by flynnboy »

Hi

I have just bought a wishbone rig which comes with a bait shield. I haven't seen one before and I don't know how to use it ? The rig has 2 hooks as you probably know and I guess I am supposed to attach the two hooks to it it in some way.... but how ?

Thanks

You do indeed clip the two hooks into the impact shield, it helps make the rig more aerodynamic and also protects the bait upon impact with the water, hence the name. The force of the water then causes the impact shield to tip and release the hooks. Here's a clip with Alan Yates explaining it a bit better.

Cheers Dave, that explains it perfectly. I have only one question, I can quite see how you attach the hook to the shield, but what about when you have bait on it, or two hooks with bait ?
