The (Mullet) Muppet Show! - 31/08/09

#1 Post by KERRY1 »

People: Me, K2 & Colin C

Location: North Down

Tide: Mid tide up to high

Weather: Cloudy but bright

Rigs: Float

Bait: Bread

Results: K2 - 2 mullet Colin C - 2 mullet (I wasn't fishing!)

I suppose you are wondering why I have called my report 'The (Mullet) Muppet Show'.
It came about from a private joke between myself, K2 and Colin C last night and as you read further on you will find out the reason.
K2 and myself got a phonecall from Colin C who was already up at the mark. He had spotted quite alot of fish about and so kindly he phoned us to tell us and to see if we where coming up.
As soon as K2 heard that there was fish about we were away.
On arrival we met up with Colin and after spotting alot of fish moving about him and K2 headed out into the water and started fishing.
From the shore I could see good numbers of fish about and could see that they where feeding well with the bread that they both where throwing in.
It wasn't before long until Colin hooked into a fish. He started walking backwards with it to land it on the shore but after having it on for a short while it got off, well actually he lost it!
He wasn't too happy much to my delight, I had to try and stop myself from laughing, cruel I know :D but this was the second fish he had lost in this session! Unforgiveable.
What a muppet! (Now can you see why I called my report what I did).
It get's even better or worse as the case may be.
K2 also then hit into a fish, but guess what - it got off too!
A short while later he hooked into another one which he said was a nice fish and guess what - it came off too!
At this stage I could hardly stop myself from laughing but I had to be careful that they both didn't see me as I knew I would be dead if they did.
I text Colin to his phone saying that they where both muppets! Four fish on and none landed, what can I say.
I know we all take conservation very seriously guys and like to stick to a strict 'Catch and Release' policy on this forum but I think you's took it abit too far last night!
At least land your fish before releasing them the next time!
I know they are both going to kill me when they read this report but hey, who cares it give me a laugh writing it and hopefully you have enjoyed reading it too.
We are heading back up to the same mark tonight again, lets see what happens!

Is it too late to delete this report or apologise.
:| They both know someone who works with building supply material such as concrete, I am worried they might just take your advice. Don't think I'll go tonight after all. I am so dead, such a hiding I am going to get!
