Have a look at the Okuma range, see if any of them suits you. Not expensive, and good quality.

You'll get a decent Shimano 4000 for about 30 - 40 EUR.

I bought a 4000 alivio about 10 years ago and it's still going strong, plenty of wrasse, pollack & mullet caught on it

Got a shimano catana 400 last year myself, wouldnt buy another. Spool doesnt return up and down fully when winding in.

I've had it apart and cant seem to locate the problem.

I know the catana is at the lower end of the shimano product range, but next time I'd buy a model higher up the range, cheap enough on ebay aswell.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

If you do a good bit of fishing then the cheap ones only end up in the bin mate, Ive been through a fair few cheap spinning reels. The gears cant take the constant strain induced by playing a lot of fish. If you can save up and get decent one you wont look back.

I took the plunge and got myself a Shimano Twin Power 4000 FC. Can honestly say its the best FS reel ive ever had the pleasure to use. Light, Serious drag, smooth as...
I went from an Shimano Exage RA to the Twin Power, when you have a decent fish on the 2 reels are miles apart..
