exploring virgin territory

#1 Post by eric »

People:brock, fintan and topgun

Duration:7-11pm

Tide: on the drop

Weather: choppy

Bait:crab, rag

Rigs:pulleys

Results: 3 hounds, two dogs and an eel

Report:

decided to try a new spot today, after driving by it a few times and wondering, would those rocks fish? we decided to give it a go. conditions seemed a little bit off ideal with a dropping tide and choppy sea but we expected a few fish regardless. first cast, and we had established the spot had a fierce rip of tide, i managed solitary dog in the first cast which was encouraging. denis had put out a rod to fish under our feet for a bass and missed a flounder bite on his first cast. i ws next to go again after missing a good slack liner. we where now sure the hounds where about, following cast i manged to hook up with a lively 3lb'er. denis followed up with a slightly bigger one who came in like a dog unitl i saw the rocks. a couple of casts later i got another good bite and soon had another hound on the rock. as we had run out of crab i decided to see if i could tempt a ray with a mack bait. i had re cast the bass rod over a likely looking spot, reeling in to check the bait revealed a small silver eel who destroyed the trace, the bass rod was packed away. final cast my ray bait landed me another doggie.

Agreed. Problem is, having decided a new spot ticks all the boxes, it takes many blanks before I'll admit defeat  . How many times on average will ye fish a new one before crossing it off?
