DEATH

#1 Post by corbyeire »

I know there is a considerable group of catch and release people - but no offence, whats the best way to kill the likes of mackeral and pollack

a tap on the head or leave them to suffocate in the air or

something else? any quick solutions

i usually stab with a knife on top of the head behind the eyes and make sure to break the spinal column - is that right? - very messy

If you are right handed hold the fish upside down by the belly in your left hand. Place your right thumb in the mouth and put your indix finger behind the head. Now SNAP

what do you mean like a drug you can inject that kills them harmlessly ? or perhaps you could mock up your own little electric fishy chair (or sofa) perhaps....

Naw a good sharp smack on the back of the head , trying to break the neck is harder as they can slip and suffocation ..yuk!

i have 2 methods.

either grab the fish by the tail and smack the head of it on the floor 2-3 times.

or

a quick sharp short smack with something heavy, ie. hammer at the side of the head.

'hammer at the side of the head'

'stab with a knife on top of the head behind the eyes and make sure to break the spinal column'

good god, where did ye grow up?!
a couple of humane taps on the head will more than suffice, a hammer is a little over kill unless you're killing a shark!
just get an old length of scrap matel, something descrete looking, and 2 or 3 thumps and that's it! no bludgeoning on skulls, or slitting of vital arteries!!
or else by a purpose made priest in a tackle shop, for 'administering the last rights'

have fun!

If you yanked a piece of steel through my mouth, dragged me in and dug me on the side of the head - I would do more than shat on you!

Think the best way is a good rap over the back of the head with a priest or similar object, don't think that doing a Tyson is as effective.

Agreed, unless it's an eel in which case you need to whack on the stomach , just above the vent . Mind you , having eaten a couple of congers I'd now put them back alive anyway .
all the best

After Mass on sunday ask the priest if he will come fishing next time. I hear they are great for killing fish
