Sligo flattie mark 20-8-09

People:me and jason

Duration:4pm-10pm

Tide:high 6.43

Weather:windy,very windy!

Bait:sandeel and frozen lug

Rigs:flattie rigs,two hook flappers

Results:coalfish,silver eel,pollock.every thing but a flattie!




Report:went to a mark that shane kindly told us about,got there but the wind was stright in our faces,with waves and sand all stirred up,not ideal conditions!then we set up at the wrong spot thanks to a lack of concentration after a smoke :D but as i caught a silver eel there,a new species for this year,i was happy :D we then discovered the other spot and moved around,the wind was brutal at this stage could barely cast out,so we upped the leads and got a little distance,but all we got were small coalfish and pollock 5-7in,then jason landed a baby fish which we could not identify,had what looked like a spike in front of its dorsal fin (mabye a baby pout?)so any id welcome!by this stage the thunder and lighting started to get close,so we gave up and went home.This looks like a nice mark so we will be back to give it another go when conditions are better.

Nice session gents :) it's defo a poor cod as eric said the anal fin stops short of the first dorsal fin whereas with a pouting the it will end under the first dorsal fin...
