malin head 13-8-09

#1 Post by MC »

People:me and nephew

Duration:7pm-11pm

Tide:hw at 11.30pm

Weather:great, slight brezze

Bait:lug,crab,bluey and mackeral (only mackeral strips worked)

Rigs:sliding floats

Results:nephew=2 pollock and 6 coalies
me=1 pollock and 6 coalies

Report:said i would take nephew fishing when i had time and he ask about thursday so i agreed(i'll get swff yet) he wanted to learn how to cast and me to help. Anyway after dinner i went and picked him up and drove to the pier, set up two spinning rods with sliding floats, fun fishing at its best. The nephew had a few casts but was having trouble, after watching him for a few casts it was clear what the problem was, he's left handed and trying to cast right handed, soon had him on the right path(no pun intended), so all was left for me to do was bait up and cast out, didnt get the chance as his first 3 casts got 3 fish, the sport was slow after that but we managed 15 fish between us, the pollock where small a few cm, the coalies where bigger, felt sorry for the nephew as he struck into a large fish and it lead him on a merry dance just to come off at the last minute
