Wexford...Yeah those trebles are good !

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People:Baz Pat & Myself

Duration:a around 2 hours

Tide:Rising

Weather: nice

Bait: Hard and Soft Plastics

Results: Wrasse and lots of Pollock.

Went out for a bit of Pollock bashing on the lures.
Started slowly, I had a Wrasse follow my lure right to my feet in crystal clear water..which was different !
Baz bent into him soon after he fell for his xlayer !
Pollock came on the feed as light faded as expected, with some nice pollock landed and a couple of good scraps !
They took a fancy to the Tide Minnow which leads me to my next point (excuse the pun)
On unhooking a nice size Pollock my pliers slipped and the weight of the Pollock drove a set of trebles into the base of my Thumb! The Pollock was dangling from my thumb via a Tide Minnow which was interesting..
Released the fish anyway, and inspected the damage...yep the barb was drove right in  2 choices were availabe to me pull it out with the pliers of
or go back to Bazs van and cut it out with a stanley..
I chose the later, after a lovely hike with the Minnow dangling out of my hand we began the surgery ! Baz held the Minnow straight while Pat steadied the treble...So I commenced cutting through my thumb to free the treble, saw ...slice ...hack :P :P , an alcohol wipe finished off the operation :P .
It was an interesting way to finish a session and the first barb ive had penetrate me (no laughing down the back !) in all my years fishing.

O ya I think Pat put a hole in his new waders

The Dominator would have said:"stop mucking about and get on with fishing!" took his pliers and ripped the hook out of the shocked man's hand. Been there. Seen it. Worked a treat. :P
