Glenarm Beach

#1 Post by JULIO RAGWORM »

People- Me, Kenny, Rosco
Bait- Ragworm, Mack
Rigs- Wishbone, 2 hook flappers and pulleys
Duration- 4 hours
Results- me; 2 doggies, 1 huss, 2 flounder
kenny; 2 flounder
rosco; 4 coalie, 5 codling 2 pollack ( all caught with a spinner!!!!!!!)

Good night so headed up the coast for a bit of bait fishing as we have been doing a lot of spinning recently, the crabs where the first things to show any interest in our bait and this was winding me up no end  , anyhow a few minutes into the session both me and kenny where bringing in small flounder. As it started to get dark there where quite a few fish jumping clear of the water and taking flies i assume no further out than 20 yards, I thought they might be sea trout and Rosco quickly got his spinning rod set up and he was into a fish first cast it was a coalie, he then proceeded to wipe the floor with us as he pulled in fish after fish on the spinner, I found it hard to believe the ammount of codling he was getting  while my rod just sat motionless apart from the few crab nibbles. As soon as it was dark roscos luck ran out and the dogs started to show, I also had a small huss just before we packed up. By the way watch out for the rats along that beach theyre like cats :!:

Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.

Nice session. They sound like huge rate alright- if the fishing goes slack you could always bait up a hook and try rat catching....
