Report:
After about 2 weeks of not getting out, I managed to get a run down to the Dee on Wednesday night. I set up the first rod with cooked prawn and fished it down the wall, in the hope of tempting a few wrasse. The line was no sooner in the water than i had a bite, and in came the first pout of the night.
Got the second rod setup, and fished it close in to the north breakwater. Again, the line had barely hit the water when I got another bite and in came a coalie. 2 casts - 2 fish, so I was off to a good start for a change!
After about 30 mins of the usual crab bite false alarms, I reeled in to check the bait on the first rod, and discovered the smallest fish I have ever caught (it was about 3 inches long)! I think that it was a baby pout, with the black spot behind the head, but the body shape did not look right. (I have attached a photo. Does anyone have any ideas??)
A shore rockling, another pout, and the seemingly obligatory Dee doggie followed.
I started to pack up the first rod, and I noticed a big hit on the rod left in the water. It felt like another doggie when I was reeling it in, but it turned out to be a good sized lobster, which was put back as i wouldnt have a clue what to do with one
The Dee had been a bit hit and miss recently, so it was good to catch a few fish
