They say you shouldn't use 2-stroke mix when it's too old. Is there any truth in that? Just preparing to get the old 5hp Evinrude 2-stroke going again - starts and runs fine (in a barrel) but I have load of fuel that's at least 2 years old. Should I dispose of it, and if so, how?
Hey Scotsman, want some 2-stroke mix?

Re: Old 2-stroke mix?
lol, no thanks Fergus, I'm all about 4 stroke these days.
Don't think I would use it after 2 years. Condensation etc might be a problem and doesn't the fuel gum up or something after a while? I know I used to use up any old 2 stroke in our old lawn mower, but never had anything that old. Wouldn't risk it in my boat engine anyway. I have old 2 stroke container you can stick it in to until you find something else to do with it so you can put fresh stuff in your own one...

Re: Old 2-stroke mix?
Certainly made lots of oily smoke when I started it!
I think I have somewhere to store the old stuff and use in the lawnmower (which is 4-stroke...) .

Thanks. I got new stuff, launched today and engine ran great after being asleep for 2 years. Not a fish in sight though...

How to dispose of it?
Theres a mobile service for collecting hazardhous materials in the Cork area - see below for schedule. I think they will accept it but you probably have to give up your container.
