Shannon Estuary, Co. Clare 19th July 2009

Duration: 4 hrs

Tide: last 2 hrs. of rise and first 2 hrs. of fall

Weather: Fresh NW


Rigs: Dexter Wedge, German Sprat, Mepps, Freelined sandeel, SWFF Clouser, Deceiver

Results:
Over 40 Schoolies with 8 Bass over 40 cm.
ALL RETURNED ALIVE!
1 Possible Specimen Golden Grey Mullet 1 lbs. 15 ozs. taken by Ross on a Mepps! Taken savagely in the mouth!



Report:
Great sport on light gear. The ?GG Mullet savaged the Mepps! Well hooked in the mouth.
Great sport also with the schoolies on the fly! Fough like mad!
Can anyone positively ID the GG? Images e-mailed to CFB/ISFC awaiting confirmation.

Golden grey (big pectoral fin, mouth shape). Good specimen too. Congrats.

Record is 1.191 kg – specimen weight is 0.68 kg (1.5 lbs).

An angler caught one in the Shannon est about three years ago but not as big as your one.

I would be very interested in the body as I want to look at growth rate etc. If you get any additional fish a scale with a length (forklength) would be very much appreciated. I can send scale envelopes to you if you don’t have any.
