Smoothhoound help needed

#1 Post by ian 123 »

Hi lads, couple of questions for the smooth hound experts out there! What bait works best for them? peeler crab, hardbacks? also should I be using a pulley rig? Thanks for any help!

Your on the right track mate.
Combine a Pulley rig (3/0-4/0 hook size) with fresh or frozen peeler crab and your on your way to landing a few Hounds mate.
Add darkness and a rising tide to the equation and your on to a winner.
Also vary your distance until you find one, it wont be alone
Keep it simple

Best of luck.

I've had them on Crab, Rag and Lug recently and at various distances.
They do seem to like a bit of tide running and either rising or falling seems
to work as long as its dark.
As for the set up a decent size hook 3/0 + and i've been using a very simple
single hook clipped down rig.

Hey mate, gimme a shout when you're heading out. Have a mark we could try. Have a number of pulleys already set up with the different hook sizes etc. Need to add smoothie to the list.
