cheers mate. i was surprised how well it fished considering the wind and swell. a rough sea usually puts the smaller fish off

cheers brian, it's good to be back. we have a lot of sessions to make up for
bitsinbobs wrote:come on boys , thats my seal from grey point

he can touch a float soooooo nice

. he's a tame oul critter. i fished for over an hour pratically under his tummy in 6 feet of water. just goes to show what a lot of old nonsense it is when people reckon you'll not catch if there's a seal about

an old guy who was walking his dog came over and started telling us we should move on as the seal would scare the fish away. but after he saw me catch 3 fish from directly under the seal he soon changed his tune. excuse number one was that the fish did'nt spot the seal. excuse number 2 was that the seal did'nt spot the fish and excuse number 3 was that it was just luck on my part

oddly he did'nt hang around too long after the third fish. i reckon it was because he had ran out of excuses
ginguscann wrote:well done lads was meant to be there myself but had a call out to work, heading tomorow with a load of mates who have never really been fishing before, thought it would be a good place for them to start, were scraping rods together from wherever we can get them, ive loads of mackerel feathers, spinners, spoons, and tobys but after reading ur report im thinking of three hook flappers, is there any where in belfast you can buy these pre tied as theres 6 of us going and i know there going to lose a lot of rigs, also where can i get some rag too ive got mackerel and sand eels in the freezer, braddles is my closest as i live in belfast city centre i bought a new rod in there today
http://www.daiwasports.co.uk/products/s ... -surf-rods as i broke my last one in the car coming home from a trip to donegal, anyways wish us luck as i have a reputation to live up to as told them yeah we will definatly catch something so i may have scudded us, cheers boyos gdluck

the rag and mini rigs can be bought at belfast angling center. just buy flounder rigs as they have wee hooks that will do the trick for you. alternatively, just buy a box of 100 size 4 hooks (£7.99) and a box of 100 3 way swivels (£8.00). or as another option buy the small feathers intended for sandeel (£1.45) and cut the feather bits off them and you instantly have a 5 hook mini rig

if it's mackeral on feathers your after spin from the back of the eisenhower pier as some lads were getting them there last night as we were leaving. hope this helps you man and good luck
eyesreilly wrote:I can beat that codling Al .Welcome back, great to see you both back out there. Had a similar day myself in Wicklow Harbour. Winds were more northerly as expected but still managed a few . Had to move to the other pier later like yourselves.

who would have thought you'd get a bunch of anglers competing for the smallest fish

we're a funny breed alright

good to see you're still getting about dave

. the weather is being a bit of a pain

. the fortnight my car was off the road the weather was smashing. not a breath of wind and blazing sun. as soon as i get the car back the heavens open up, it's blowing a gale and the seas are rough as heck

typical
i'm heading out towards browns bay tomorrow man if you fancy a session

. regardless of what direction the wind is blowing there's always somewhere around the island where you can get tucked away so the wind is blowing from behind you out to sea

your always more than welcome man. the more the merrier in my book

I hope Jordan realises how lucky he is to have a dad like you Al. My dad plays golf

And Al it must be great bringing Jordan along with you. I was to go out last night. Bait sorted and new rod ready to go. My little one was teething and my misses at breaking point so I ended up stuck in

unlucky man. don't worry but, it won't be long before you have a wee fishing buddy in the making there

some of our best memories are form our fishing adventures. camping out on the beach or sleeping in the car for overnight sessions. it's not just about the fishing, it's everything that goes with it too. jordan cooking up a fry for breakfast on the beach of filleting his catches for supper. i've even started to teach him how to make my beer batter
