Report:

Decided to go on a ray hunt this weekend as I still hadnt caught any :(

Drove up to lehan at night and stayed out all night, got there and a few tourists hadnt any luck with the mackerel bashing. Fishing was really really slow with my mate only getting a small flounder. Once it got dark the guy fishing next to us got a doggie quickly followed by me getting my first ray :) Not a beast but a ray all the same, I was over the moon.

Had a well earned cup of tea and then got my second, nearly took the rod out of the stand! Similar sized fish to the first. Then it was my mates turn but it took the bait on the spinning rod set up with the running ledger, The whole road dragged down the pier and over the edge. Put a bit of dampner on things until he got a good knock on the beachcaster with another ray. the rest of the night was quiet and we had a sausage sandwich and a bit of a kip. Next morning was really slow but we didnt care :)

Forgot to add it was last night (18/07/09) and this morning we were fishing.

In daylight all we had were small bites from the flatties, as soon as dark came along so did the bites :) But thats why we tend not to fish in daylight. Its been the same story for us all year, pointless coming out in the daytime. Maybe our just bad luck

Loads of people came and went, most with feathers for mackerel looking for bait, however the rays were taken with frozen Squid/sandeel cocktails; were had an array of baits, you never know what they'll take!

A local guy came down and fished with us for a while (until about 2am), really nice guy and gave us some good advice.

Thanks for letting me they are spotted ray, I thought they were blonde rays but these had prickles beside the "eyes".

If anyone fishes there in the next while and catches a fish with a rod attached let me know :)

Roll on the next target species :)
